Hey, I'm Derrick

...but most people call me Jordan.

Welcome to my portfolio! I'm a recent Georgia Tech graduate with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. I'm currently working as a prototyping design engineer at Emelody Worldwide primarily manufacturing components for the aerospace industry.

Engineering design means a lot to me. The ability to impact people across the globe by combining science and creativity is an incredibly rewarding experience. Although my problem solving journey has only just begun, I would love to share where I've been thus far, so feel free to explore.

About Me.

My name is Derrick Richardson, but I typically go by my middle name, Jordan. I'm a mechanical engineering graduate from Georgia Tech now in the early stages of my career. I'm currently working as a prototyping design engineer in Atlanta, Georgia where I'm primarily focused on the design and fabrication of aerospace components.

Throughout my time at Georgia Tech, my existing affinities for CAD, sketching, and other creative forms have galvanized my love for product development. The ability to advance a simple concept from idea to functioning product has fascinated me since my introduction to the product development process. Fortunately, I've been able to experience that kind of work multiple times as an intern and really dive into what that process looks like in industry. Over the last four years, I've had the opportunity to do product development work at Vanderlande, Canon Virginia, and M3 Design for about three months each. Each experience was incredibly unique and diverse in its engineering demands, but I thoroughly enjoyed the design work I undertook at each. Head over to my experience page to see more!

With those experiences behind me, I'm eager to know what kind of full-time experiences await me on the horizon. I've only just begun my journey as a full-time engineer and I'm definitely excited to discover what the industry has to offer. The engineering industry is incredibly broad, so I'm excited to find out where it may take me. If you, or others you know are hiring in the product development/fabrication/design space, I'd love to hear from you. Please view my contact page for more info!

All of that said, my interests certainly span past more than work and academics. When I'm not engineering, you can always find me at a soccer field, watching the Chelsea FC game, hanging with friends, or maybe even traveling. I formerly played for the club soccer team at Georgia Tech and continue to play on my own time. I love to socialize and explore new things, both of which I feel translate well to the office. Collaboration and open-mindedness has certainly opened me to numerous opportunities in the past, so I'm definitely excited to see what awaits me in the near future.
